Benchmark indices traded bullish on the second trading session of the week on account of firm global cues and short covering seen in index heavyweights. The GST council meeting that is underway also helped investors to look positive for the markets. The Nifty ended the session to close at 8677.90 i.e. 157.50 points higher.
ICICI Bank, Adani ports, HDFC and TECHM were the top gainers of the day while Infratel, Asian Paints, ONGC, and BPCL were the top losers of the day.
Global Markets Update:
- BlackRock Inc, the world’s largest asset manager, reported a 3.8% rise in quarterly profit, showing resilience in a weak market for many traditional asset managers, net income rose to $875 million in the Q3 ended Sept. 30 from $843 million a year earlier.
- European stocks were higher on Tuesday, as rising oil prices lifted market sentiment and as investors began to prepare for the European Central Bank’s policy meeting on Thursday.
