Benchmark indices traded lower on the last trading session of the week as investors turned cautious ahead of IIP and Inflation data to be announed later in the day. Consumer price inflation (CPI) is expected to have eased to a three-month low of 3.49 per cent in April from 3.81 per cent the previous month Nifty ended at 9414.80.
Auto and IT shares were the major gainers of the day while Media and Private banks were the major loosers of the day.
Global Markets Update
Global stocks paused near record highs as worries over China’s banking system provided an excuse for investors to lock in some profits. The dollar was set for its best week of the year on bets the Federal Reserve will raise U.S. interest rates in June.
Asia shares were mostly weaker with China bucking the trend as investors look ahead to a meeting of top finance officials from the world’s leading economies at the weekend in Italy.
